Dear Colleagues and Friends,

We are pleased to announce the Stable Carbene Symposium to be held on November 30th, 2018 at the University Paul Sabatier (Auditorium Marthe Condat), Toulouse, France and we cordially invite you to participate this event.

This meeting, possibly the first of a Symposium series, is organized on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the discovery of stable carbenes. Long considered as chemical curiosities because they defy the octet rule, carbenes have become common functional groups and today rank among the most powerful tools in organic, inorganic and organometallic chemistry. They have unique properties and find widespread applications in homogeneous catalysis, both as organocatalysts and as ligands for transition metals. They are also increasingly used in medicinal chemistry and material science.

The aim of this symposium is to bring together chemists working on or interested in stable carbenes, and to foster exchange on the recent, ongoing and future developments in carbene chemistry. The provisional program consists in nine plenary lectures by renowned speakers, including the two pioneers of the field. In addition, a poster session will allow the youngest researchers to share and exchange on their latest results in the field.

The symposium registration is free of charge but mandatory. Registration and abstracts submission for the poster session are opened until September 15th 2018.

Do not hesitate to contact us at stablecarbene@chimie.ups-tlse.fr, should you have any questions.

UPDATE: The deadline for abstract submission has been postponed to 15th October 2018. After this deadline, submission will no longer be considered. Notification of acceptance or rejection of the abstract will be sent to the corresponding Author soon after this deadline.

T. Kato and D. Bourissou, on behalf of the organizing committee.
